Grapevine, TX. Marc Carlson, FLHC, FLMI, FALU, ARA, ACS, Modern Woodmen, Rock Island, IL. was named as the recipient of the International Claim Association’s (ICA), 2024 “Best of ICA” award. The award was presented at ICA’s 2024 Annual Education Conference which had over 390 attendees representing life, accident, health/medical, disability, workers‘ compensation, technology and fraud claims professionals.

Established in 2021 the “Best of ICA” award recognizes those individuals who continuously contribute and support the ICA. The selection criteria for the award are based on a number of criteria including; character & integrity that exemplifies the ICA’s ideals and serve as role models to others; leadership for acknowledging, coaching, and mentoring others; and, service honoring the individual’s commitment to the ICA.

The inaugural recipient of the “Best of ICA” in 2021 was Frank Best (Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company). Richard Marquez (Diligence International Group) received the award in 2022 and Tony Ferrante (Sun Life) received the award in 2023.

Marc Carlson was an integral part of the International Claim Association for over 15 years. He has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and commitment to our organization, making a significant impact on our mission and goals “There is no one more deserving of this award then Marc,” said ICA Executive Director Chris Murphy,

“Marc has supported ICA in numerous capacities since joining the ICA in 2007 including as chair of the Annual Conference Team, and serving as chair for numerous committees including the Executive, Nominating , Finance, Life and Annuities and ultimately serving as President in 2018 where he was instrumental in developing ICA’s Claims 101 Tool Kit for new claims professionals”, said Murphy.

Marc’s leadership, professionalism, and selfless service to the ICA over the years has set a high standard for those who have had the privilege to work with him over the years and the future ICA leaders coming behind him. He embodies the value and mission of the ICA and his commitment, leadership, has been a positive influence to all that have had the honor to work with him, said ICA Immediate Past President, Adam Formus, ALHC, Esq, Assistant General Counsel, Guardian Life Insurance Company of America.

The Best of the ICA Award is presented annually to recognize individuals providing outstanding service to the ICA.
